Meals on Wheels Program
What is it?
Economically priced home style meals prepared fresh daily by our Chef and delivered to your door by our volunteers.
Eligibility
We help seniors, the injured or those inclined to use our service. Membership with the Dartmouth Seniors Centre is not required to become a client.
What and When Do We Deliver
We offer 5 meal choices per week (except holiday weeks). Our delicious low-sodium meals consist of an entree with dessert and soup. Meals include meat or fish, potato, pasta or rice, and vegetables. Meals are delivered in microwave safe, compostable or recyclable plastic containers. You can order as many meals as you like or as few as one per week. 4 meals/month is the minimum monthly order.
Hot meals are made fresh and delivered on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Cold meals are made Tuesday and Thursday, refrigerated overnight and delivered next day to your home.

What is it?

We offer 5 meal choices per week. Our delicious low-sodium meals consist of an entree with dessert. Meals include meat or fish, potato, pasta or rice, and vegetables.
Eligibility
You don’t need to be a senior to drop in to the Centre and enjoy a wholesome, nutritious meal at a great price. Have a busy morning shopping? Need a break and don’t want to cook? In downtown Dartmouth and wondering what to eat? Come join us and meet some wonderful people.

Recreational Activities Program
What is it?
We provide a full schedule of activities each week that are both educational and great for your health and well being. Activities include: Yoga, Fun and Fitness, Knit & Stitch, Painting, Woodcarving, Members Bingo, Super Bingo and Choir.
Cost
Fees for program attendance range from FREE with membership to a nominal fee per session.

Special Events Program
What is it?
We’re social and we love great times with our friends. Our events range from special meals, community markets and yard sales, parties, entertainment, dances with live music to trips and travel opportunities. You can have fun, see your friends, meet new people and enjoy yourself.
Events tickets are available on a first come, first served basis. Seats are limited and we often sell out! You can view our Event Calendar here or pick up a printed copy at the Centre to take home.
Event information is regularly posted on our Facebook and Instagram pages. We look forward to seeing you!

Medical Transportation Program

What is it?
We provide door to door transportation for medical, hearing and dental appointments for seniors living in Dartmouth. Transportation is provided to a location in Dartmouth or Halifax at reasonable rates. This service is a cost-effective alternative to taking a taxi.
Drivers for our service are volunteers that have been thoroughly vetted for your safety. This includes a criminal background check.

You do not have to be a member of the Dartmouth Seniors Service Centre, but priority will be given to members.

Medical Assistance Program

What is it?
Our medical assistance program provides reimbursement of up to $250 every six months on personal paid invoices for glasses, hearing aids, dental work and prescription drugs. It’s an amazing member benefit!
Submission of receipt (or receipts depending on the category) is required. 25% of total out of pocket expenses to a maximum of $250 per submission will be reimbursed. A member may submit an application once every 6 months.
Dartmouth Seniors Service Centre reserves the right to deny any application and to discontinue the program when funds allocated for this program are depleted for the current fiscal year.

Catering and Meeting Service
What is it?
Need a space for your meeting, birthday party or other special event? Dartmouth Seniors Service Centre, a hidden community gem, is the place for you! We offer a fully-equipped commercial kitchen, professional staff, reception area, Audio/Visual equipment, built-in speakers, microphone, stage, air-conditioning, a central location and street parking.
Always inviting, our facilities include a lounge area with flat screen TV and a variety of comfortable arrangement and seating options. The lounge is perfect for intimate meetings. Our fully licensed bar makes smooth sailing for any reception!
Our dining hall is the main event room. This room can seat 150+ for a full service breakfast, lunch or dinner. Our trained and talented kitchen staff can provide delicious home cooked style meals for your event.
